Upper mtn. snow was obviously lighter than down low, but the entire mtn. is holding up extremely well.

Just before hooking up with Wes and Jumpin' Jimmy for a sweet JFK run I just dodged a rather serious injury. While heading for Taxi over to the Tram side from the Triple (the Red chair was closed), I traversed left into some trees I'd never sampled that lie above and just to the left of the entrance to Hell's Woods. Planting the left pole into what I believed to be foot deep snow resulted in hitting a rock or something just under the surface, sending the top of the pole handle directly into the left side of my nose with the force of a Holyfield right cross.

My first thought was, "It's broken, da**it." Turned out I just lost a little skin and some pride but the sight of a bloody face certainly spooked my buddies after I caught up with them, and myself after peering into my friend's mirrored goggles. The rest of the run froze up the blood nicely, and a quick trip to the WC proved the injury to be rather trivial.
