Today was an overall good day of skiing. I met up with Bubba and his gang of friends and took a few runs at Bear. The 1-2” of snow last night really didn’t help much. Most of it was groomed into the trails right away.

Started the day at Skyeship Base. Took the Skyeship up to the peak and skied Skyeway to Needle’s Eye. It was in good shape. Believe it or not, the Needle’s Eye Express Quad was turning (and on a Friday no less). I skied Bittersweet down to the Superstar Express Quad. I got Bubba on the radio and skied over to Bear to meet up with him via Gateway and Frostline.

Met him and his friends between the Bear And Skye Peak Quads. We took the Skye Peak Quad up and skied Skyeburst. Skyeburt was in great shape with nice soft powder on top of semi-hard pack. The Viper Pit was also good. We also took a few runs on Bear Trap and Bear Claw, both of which were in great shape. By later in the day, Bear Claw (below the Viper Pit) started to get nice soft bumps. I didn’t ski lower Wildfire because the guns were going on it and I really didn’t feel like getting my goggles frosted again.

After a more few runs and a trip down Cruise Control to Carpenter’s Run, I called it quits. Not a bad day. Snow was in good shape, but you really can’t nod off. You have to be on the lookout for rocks and bare spots. Hopefully the next week will bring some natural snow.

Dave
www.geocities.com/tigerskier
