I hit the Big K today with hopes of fun in the sun. I was not disappointed. I stayed at Southridge the whole day because this was the first time I've ever seen the funky Southridge Triple running. I especially like the double bull wheel turn in the middle. If your not careful it can throw you off the chair. I love the trails this lift serves. I did Jug and Handle, Breakaway, Pipe Dream, Jug and Handle, Breakaway, Pipe Dream, Jug and Handle, Breakaway, Pipe Dream, Jug and Handle, Breakaway, Pipe Dream, over and over again. I found a little gem of a trail called Roundabout. Narrow and twisty. The top part of Southridge was nice packed powder. The sun did it's thing on the lower steeper parts and big soft spring moguls were growing with the traffic. Lower Pipe Dream was the best. Super soft powdery corn bumps. Like skiing on cream cheese. The groomers getting to Southridge was nice packed powder. I saw little ice anywhere. Lift lines were small or none for a holiday. My last run I did Devil's Fiddle. The sun softened it up nicely. There were some bare spots showing but that just added to the fun. Lots of moguls. Outer Limits was wall to wall bumps and the barbecue was cooking on the Bear Mountain Lodge deck. This was a sweet day of skiing.
