The skiing varied quite a bit. From solid ice to nice packed powder. There was a huge difference in the quality of skiing between the trails that had received snowmaking and the ones that didn't. Best runs were Outer Limits, Panic Button/ Needles Eye, and Superstar. Snow was being blown on Outer Limits and lower Superstar all day. Lower Superstar had great bumps to the left of the lift.

Went to The Inn at Long Trail for dinner and a crazy house party on Tony's Way Saturday night where there were about 50 too many people. Sunday it seemed like it was going to be warm, but temps seemed to drop throughout the day with lots of clouds and a few flurries. Sunday, Needles Eye had some fun bumps and Outer Limits was in good shape except the middle of the trail near the top was shear ice for about 20-30 feet from all the skiers side slipping when they come to the steeper section. Along skiers left there was plenty of snow. To my surprise Upper Bittersweet into High Road had great snow and low traffic. And I love those Gondola rides back up.

Here are some additional comments:

The lift lines were not bad at all except for K-1.

On Saturday, Superstar was the trail of the day in my opinion. The sun was to the back of you midday. You could see your own shadow ahead of you as you carved. It felt like a Mack Dawg video (if you are a snowboarder). The top section was packed powder, I did not ride through any ice. The middle and lower section was GREAT. They were blowing snow and there was much soft stuff to be found everywhere. K did a great job considering all the rain they got.

Bear got really crowded but the lift lines were minimal - no waiting at all! I am not sure what this section of Bear is called, but it is the part of Wildfire that gets crowds because of bumps after a mellow section of flat. Anyway, there's some exposed rock on the riders left. It was a front side hit for me. You can air off the transition and over the rock out cropping back on to the trail. You couldn't do this later in the day because of the crowds and the number of people who fell due to the combination of bumps and ice.

Rams Head was a great shape too. Header looked nice and was empty for all you with beginners. The snowboard park was nice too. All the tabletops had nice transitions and the landings were decent although hard - don't fall. You couldn't take every hit because you need to build up speed for the bigger tabletops. Pick and choose and you will be fine - no speed checking. The park was also empty although the lines at the Rams Head quad were the longest on the entire mtn.

On the way back to the Skyeship base, Great Eastern was in BAD shape. My Jeep is always parked there so I had no choice. Ice, almost blue ice.

On Sunday, Superstar was granular on top with ice patches here and there but they were blowing snow on the mid section down to the bottom. It was nice if you like bumps.

Needles Eye was the run of the day for me. It was warmer towards the bottom so the snow loosened up. Up on the top, there was ice everywhere - especially off the Superstar Quad.

Again, G Eastern was icy, especially the lower section.
