The good news is that the skiing was great on that day and there was a bit of variety in the terrain. The bad news is that it was melting fast, and I expect only Superstar and a few others will be open this upcoming weekend.

My sister and I started over on the Superstar quad, which accessed Superstar, Bittersweet, and Skyelark. Superstar, of course, has lots of snow, but there were bare spots appearing on Skyelark. I expect that Skyelark will close soon unless they push lots of snow around. The bumps on Superstar were nice and the trees on the lower part were fun, but we were looking for fresh corn, so we headed up the K-1. First run was down Cascade, and it was alright. Next run was down East Fall, and also found to be just alright. Double Dipper, however, was exceptionally good, with very sweet corn snow that had few tracks on it because the ski patrol kept it closed until the afternoon. It was closed due to "a man-power issue" according to the patroler who dropped the rope.

The Cascade run-out, while lots of fun, was getting very thin by the end of the day. There must be walking involved by now, unless they pushed the snow from the half-pipe up the trail.

Superstar had a lot of snow, but there is usually that much snow by early May rather than mid-April in my experience. I expect they might have trouble making it into mid-May this year. If this hot weather continues, the May 1st fun race may be a muddy affair.

Stratton appeared to have a ton of snow when viewed from the top of K. Every trail appeared white from top to bottom, side to side. Can anybody who was in the region on Sunday confirm that? The North Face at Mt. Snow also looked well covered. Magic was nearly bare, as was Ascutney. The upper part of Bear Creek (a.k.a. Round Top) appeared to have decent coverage.
