Saturday was better.

Soft snow on Skylark and medium soft (after 11) on Superstar (middle third got more sun and was nice; steeper top and bottom thirds stayed a bit scratchy and very big-moguled). Skylark had bare spots here and there, and many games of dodge-the-pebbles on traverse over, but all-in-all, fun, heavy snow. Big edgeable bumps on Skyhawk to Skylark were poached often.

Sunday was midwinter conditions with late spring snow cover. Basically, it sucked. Endless laps were done on Skylark, which was nasty with long stretches of iciness in between sporadic patches of soft. Where moguls formed, they were like scattered blots of acne on a scraped-smooth face. (Exception: Skylark's east-facing, narrow, middle dogleg got soft and fun.) Superstar was groomed flat down the middle overnight--which was probably a good thing, cause otherwise it would have been pure ice moguls and most likely unopened--but even so, it stayed hard, hard, hard all day. Talked to a guy on the lift who had new, just-sharpened racing skis and was loving Superstar. Me, two runs on it were at least one too many.

We hiked over to do East Glade to East Fall, which was a welcome diversion. Some soft sweet turns were had, but the snow ran out quickly and from the intersection of East Fall and Cascade, we walked back to the base--a very sorry comparison with snow cover there in mid-May of last year.
