K-mart on Sunday was wonderful. Corn snow, plenty of trails open, beers in the parking lot and even some champagne to celebrate the glorious season and new friends made during it. Outer Limits was still open, although my poach of Wildfire would have made more sense if I had been willing to grass-slide the 30 foot gap that the 3 boarders I followed successfully bridged, to the oohs and aahs of nearby lift-riders. My 30-ft hike down seemed boring, yet much more prudent.

There's no telling whether Superstar will make June 1 this year. It still has great cover but the base isn't particularly deeper than the last two years and they were melted out by Memorial Day.

I had huge fun skiing the Evril K-Mart this weekend. It started out crunchy early in the morning both days, softened first at Bear, and ended with fantastic spring skiing on the main mountain.

Here's how Sunday ended:

K1. Right fork of Escapade to Southridge triple. Jug to Breakaway in perfect corn snow. Falls Brook Trail runout.

Skye Peak Quad. Middle Superstar to Lower Ovation. Lower O had just softened and was nice but not hero mush bumps.

K1. Walk under the K1 to Heavenly Traverse to Catwalk. Walk up to Glades Triple. West Glade. Great Northern to Killink. Walk up Killink to Snowdon. Northstar in perfect corn snow.

K1. Cascade headwall. Walk up to Glades triple. West Glade. Conclusion.

K1. Downdraft Headwall, ski a "just soft enough" headwall. Walk over to the top of the Glades lift. Poach the powerlines. Great Northern over to Killink. Walk to the top of Snowdon. Chute to Great Bear on perfect unskied corn snow.
