tales of epic dump in central vt broke us down and we made the 2 1/2hr ride over to mighty k, and dropped the $59 for the daily ticket, on monday morning from lincoln. we set up out of the bear mountain side. k is essentially 100% open. outer limits looked to be in fine shape with monster bumps. the devil's fiddle was a little more sparse and not as good lines. man that is one wild trail to look at. (the o.l.) we ventured over to superstar side for a few but stayed over at bear for most of the time. didn't even bother to go past the superstar side as it appeared that most of that was flat. superstar trail was 1/2 bumped but was not good at all.. bad snow and bad lines all around... lot of college aged kids around but no real crowds to speak of ... even more so on the bumpers. no real chair wait. brisk , about 25f.. but not bad at all. partly sunny and little wind... most runs with grommers were a fine pp with the occasional slick...most blue bumpers were pretty decent with some scraped off of the front sides. outer limits was primo with very little hp or scraped off... i think it's becasue it's so steep that it intimidates people... not the least of which includes me!!!!... but great snow ( micx of fake and real ) so it made it easier to commit to the line even though it's quite scary to do so ( u better be pulling those knees up and down real fast ) ... bumpin on outerlimits all day and awful 2.45hr ride back had us draggin ass next day ... somehow made it to bretton, half in a coma, about 9:00am... the lightest snow i've seen all year was falling... 2 on the ground and they ended up with a good 5.. think it was a localized event... the skiers right trees were only partially open, but the cherry glades and the maple glades off the west side q were fine.. quite killer actually...nothing makes you feel more like a hero after skiing k mart and the outer limits than skiing not so mighty bretton woods.. but it was great snow.. it's the reason i go there and i was reminded why on tuesday... cold as hell about 15f and some wind.. it snowed all day but it was the type of snow that was so light it did not impede vision at all.. no sticking to goggles and though it snowed all day, vision was not a problem.. great day overall with no crowds... patches of bump lines are forming in areas but no real sustained lines to speak of. <BR> back on monday, hopefully from cannon , but possibly bretton, for another 2 if no fresh snow at cannon...
