I just returned back east from a trip out to the tahoe area (perfect timing, as usual). By now conditions are presumably radically different. But I was at kirkwood on 12/26 and here was the status:
The wall was closed (on wind hold) all day, as were all the backside lifts. Skied off the cornice lift all morning -- janek's, olympic, sherwood bowl, etc. The snow was remarkably good everywhere -- wind whipping around had actually improved most of these trails. The bumps on olympic were the best of the lot -- had been filled in with wind-blown snow. Woods were still too icy to be enjoyable, but the various gullies had good snow in the bottoms and were fun to ski.
In the afternoon, they closed the cornice lift for wind hold (though frankly it seemed the wind was never worse than what is just routine on the gmf at jay peak in the east). So there wasn't much to do but ski lower-mountain gullies and groomers, which were in good shape for what it's worth.
