Kirkwood had 4 inches new the previous day and 1-2 inches overnight, then got another 3-4 during the day. We arrived about 9:15, but had a 9:30 appointment to hear about Expedition Lodge which will be opening in tine for Winter 2009. Our two 16 year-old boarders hit the slopes right away while we had an informative hour listening to what is planned at Kirkwood before getting the chair at 11 am with free VIP passes from hearing about $379K one eighth shares. We skied Cornice chair about five times and found powder on edge of most runs. The new snow was not always deep enough to cover the frozen layer underneath, a result of temps in the 50s the previous weekend. After lunch at Off The Wall, we went up Reut chair and found conditions on runs to skiers right much better. We did the Wall chair three times including dropping into untracked Eagle Bowl once. Visibility at the top was poor, coverage was very good but snow was inconsistent. Sometime you found the hard layer and other times it was not there. The backside was not open due to wind which was only strong at the top of Cornice chair, on the traverse to Sentinel and at the top of the Wall. 15 runs/19.2K vertical
