Toured up Lambs this morning. Crusty under 8 inches on south faces, well layered and bonded on north faces. Everything else in between. Good angled trees, well protected, great skiing.

Good before work!

I've long been curious. Any pix to share?

Lamb's Canyon was my first heliski experience with the now defunct Utah Powderbirds March 20, 1989

The reason for my curiosity is that it's for all intents and purposes right behind my house.

IIRC there's a Lamb's Canyon exit from I-80 near Parley's Summit, which is presumably where the backcountry access is. From admin's house I think you would have to climb over the first set of Wasatch foothills to get there. The heli was based near what is now the entrance to The Canyons. They first tried to ski just behind Park West, but it was east facing and the sun got it fast even though there were 20 inches new. This was before fat skis and most of us were thrashing. Lamb's Canyon was north facing with well spaced trees and excellent snow.

Correct, except that it's a few miles west of and well below the summit.

Correct as well. My house is on the lower western slopes of Grandeur Peak (el. 8,299' - the house is at 5,000'). Lamb's Canyon is on the east side of Grandeur. The canyon floor should be somewhere around 6,000 feet or so.

Um - someone else was taking pictures I'll see if I can find them.

I'm sure you can picture 35 degree aspen and evergreen glades with a foot of fluff on top of the upside down snow.

The FTO crew would like it very much I am sure. Marc lets get after it one of these mornings.
