Laurentian powder and Mont Plante

Normally by this time I would be heading down south to VT in search of powder. However, with the local scene being so good, have kept myself busy showing the kids the local powder. True, the Laurentians are under attack with Tremblant and MSSI doing their best to pave the area over or groom it out. Despite all this, there are still areas where classic skiing exists (no snow making) without spending a fortune and sometimes it's even free. Afterwards , spent some time at Plante, an old abandoned ski hill that still has its trails. Just have to hike up!

James, Correct the area is part of a new regional park that has just been created after a long legal battle with developers that wanted to build condominiums all over the hillsides. The area is now saved for rock climbing, X skiing, hiking and of course some alpine skiing as the trails are still there just not talked about.

Don't forget mountain biking!

We had the IMBA / Trail Care Crew visit in Val-Morin and they will try to be the singletrack capital of the Laurentian... A really beautiful project with the town putting all their effort to make it work!

Hi Anthony,
just moved to quebec, montreal in sept. from BC. I know it's a little painful in the mountain factor but it's also really fun to check out a new area. can you email me directions to this mont cesaire if it's not too secret that newcomers can't get in on it? hoping to go on Saturday so if you can, respond ASAP would be fantastic.
many thanks
