Little Cottonwood Canyon closed

Just saw that. We were thinking of heading to Solitude tomorrow anyway. Will everyone wait for the opening or will BCC be crazy busy? Not that we really have a choice with 4pm flights.

Personally, I'll be waiting for LCC to open. I've managed to confirm that I'm skiing tomorrow, but Outdoor Retailer has me beat, and it'll feel good to sleep in a little bit. We also have a large posse lining up for Alta tomorrow.

Enjoy. Since we need to leave the mountain by 2pm that's not going to work for us It was really fun up at Alta today, especially up high. Wildcat was cut up but nice and soft.

Sharon, were you skiing in a pretty large group on Eagles Nest around 330 or so today?

Stubborn again. If you're as paranoid about crowds as icelantic, I'd normally recommend the drive up to Snowbasin or Powder Mt. Given the rain/snow line today, that's not a viable option this time.

i had a feeling that lcc would have some trouble today as i earlier stated in another thread. i advised friends of mine to get up high yesterday so what do they do? they go to pow mow and get rained on most of the day and quit by 1pm. hopefully they take my brighton advice for today. they are extremely strong skiers and are pretty good at sniffin stuff out. solitude could be great if cold enough and if lcc does indeed open by 10 am. i certainly wouldn't wait at lcc for a late opening when i could be skiing fresh in bcc with no worries.
good storm!

Snow was thick and heavy yesterday at 8500', so I think waiting for LCC to open is a good idea. Solitude is lower in elevation and while it will have plenty of untracked, it will be heavy and thick. I'm holding out to ski elevation today. We can ski fresh snow tuesday in BCC as it is supposed to get much colder late tonight and the snow should dry out and lighten up in density. I'd like to ski Snowbird on Monday.

So much teeth gnashing from hundreds of miles away in L.A.!

Estimated opening now 8:30 a.m.

On our way up bcc now. We'll see how it is, can't be too bad. Got the email from the sheriff about the 830 opening but still did Solitude. Given our flight schedule the 9am vs930 opening also influenced the decision. Enjoy alta. Look forward to hearing how it goes.

brighton is higher at it's base by about 200 ft than alta which can make a difference. friends of mine decided to take my brighton advice today and reported of epic conditions t2b with snow plenty light and zero crowds today. they just called me and said it's really dumping. they couldn't believe how little folks were there. good thing for them that lcc opened at an appropriate time. lcc must have been great as well with all of the refilling all day. can't go wrong.
