PERIODS LIKE THE LAST 48 HOURS SERVE 2 PURPOSES: 1) THEY CONFIRM FOR FAMILY AND FRIENDS THAT ONE'S ADDICTION TO SKIING IS WITHOUT QUESTION A DEEP ROOTED CERTIFIABLE SICKNESS AND 2) FORCE ONESELF TO QUESTION ONE'S SANITY...NAH,... THEY ARE THE ONES WHO ARE NUTS!!!!!
LOON/SUN: AWOKE AT 6:30AM TO RAIN... STEADY AND GOING STRAIGHT DOWN... WALKING OUT TO THE GONDY FOR THE FIRST CAR AT 8:31AM INTO A NOW DOWNPOUR... ALL THE WHILE SWIMMING UPSTREAM AGAINST THE FLOOD OF PEOPLE BAILING FOR THE DAY...PROBABLY ABOUT 30 PEOPLE ON THE WHOLE MOUNTAIN BY 10 AM... IT RAIN STEADY AND HARD ALL DAY LONG NO LET UP AT ALL , UNLESS U CALL THE RAIN MOVING HOROZONTALLY INSTEAD OF VERTICALLY DUE TO WIND A LET UP!!!... THE QUAD AND THE GONDY WERE RUNNING...SKIED THE GONDY TILL ABOUT NOON ON THE STILL SAME BASIC 4 WAYS DOWN THAT THEY HAVE, REGARDLESS OF THE 20 PLUS SOMETHING THEY ARE CALLING IT...IT WAS SUPERSOFT AND NOT BAD AT ALL...IT ACTUALLY GOT TO 60F AT ONE POINT... THAT SUMS THAT UP!!! WHEN EVERYONE DISAPPEARS IT'S USUALLY FOR A REASON AND THERE WAS A REASON... IT'S JUST THAT IF U COULD TOLERATE THE RAIN, IT REALLY WAS FUN...BIG THUNDER STRIKE AT NOON PUT THE QUAD OUT OF COMMISH FOR THE DURATION AND THE GONDY SHUT DOWN NOT MUCH AFTER THAT...I'M USUALLY PRETTY TOUGH ON EM ( SEE MONDAY ) , BUT THIS WAS AS LEGIT AS IT COULD GET TO VALIDATE THEM CLOSING...GOT ABOUT 15 RUNS IN BEFORE NO MORE COULD BE HAD...THEY GOT ,I WOULD GUESS, A SOLID 2 TO 2.5 INCHES OF RAIN AND IT LOOKED PRETTY DEVASTATING AS FAR AS THEIR BASE WENT...HOPEFULLY THEY WILL GET BAILED OUT BY 2 EVENTS IN THE NEXT 72...
MON/WATERVILLE: NORMALLY U COULD NOT PAY ME TO SKI WATERVILLE, YEAH I KNOW IT'S NOT MUCH DIFFERENT FROM LOON FOR TERRAIN, BUT WHEN LOON IS 30 SECS AWAY FROM BED AND IT'S FOR FREE ( THE OL' 199 PASS HAS BEEN PAID FOR ALREADY ) WELL, I JUST WILL NOT TRAVEL SOUTH... IF I'M NOT SKIING LOON, THEN IT'S ON TO THE KINGDOM OF JAY/STOWE/BURKELAND...BUT LOON DECIDED AT ABOUT 7:45A NOT TO OPEN... YEAH, THEY DID A TERRIBLE JOB ON GETTING OUT THE INFO AND I AM CONVINCED THEY WOULD HAVE OPENED IF IT WAS A SAT AND 3000 PEOPLE WERE THERE, BUT IT WAS MON. MORN...ANYWAYS, IT WAS EITHER NOT SKI, OR HEAD TO WATERVILLE AND SKI BY 10 OR HEAD NORTH INTO UNCERTAINTY... GOT TO WATERVILLE AT 915 AND UNLOADED OFF THE QUAD THEY HAVE THAT SERVE A LONG GREEN/BLUE CRUISER BY 10... THEY HAD THE, SUNNYSIDE ( I THINK THAT'S IT'S NAME 0 TRIPLE RUNNING HIGHER INTERMITTENLY FOR THE BETTER PART OF THE DAY , BUT THAT WAS SHUTTING DOWN FOR LONG PERIOIDS DUE TO THE INCREDIBLE WINDS ( ONE OF THE REASONS LOON DID NOT OPEN ) ENDED UP DOING LAPS ON THIS GREEN/BLUE SMOOTHIE ALL DAY... ACTUALLY MOSTLY DRILLS LEARNED AT BUMP CAMP FOR BALANCE... PERFECT TERRAIN FOR IT !!!IT WAS VERY COLD AND WINDY AND THERE WAS A PRETTY GOOD CROWD THERE EARLY... MOST BAILED BY 1 THOUGH AND IT WAS NO MORE THAN 30 OR SO AFTER THAT!!! SURFACE WAS ABOUT 3 INCHES OF SUPER LIGHT POW OVER THE FROZEN GRAN/HARDPACK FROM THE DRASTIC TEMP FLUX IN THE PREVIOUS 12... REMEMBER... THERE ARE NO BAD CONDITIONS...ONLY BAD SKIERS... I'M ALL DONE UNTIL AFTER NEW YEARS DAY... SEE YA IN THE NEW YEAR WITH WHAT SHOULD BE 4 STRAIGHT FROM STOWE/SMUGGS...
