i skied loon 3 straight on tues , wed and thurs... just can't bring myself to pay anywhere else as of yet... tues and wed saw pp and all open.. tues was crowded more than i thought it would be... partly cloudy on both days and no wind .. very nice.. mostly skied the intermed bump run under the quad.. all the blacks were open, but still sketch on trip troub and double dip...thurs saw an incredible change in snow conditions in 14 hours.. overnight loon lost a tremendous amount of snow and it really showed how thin the base was... they closed the line under the quad and patches have started to show up on the north peak trails... the snow turned into " wet packed grancorn "... it was killer snow to play in and, for the first half of the day, it was hero snow.. basically just burnt mogul turns on the flats all days.. bumps in flume were sludge covered and very difficult. started to heard some whinning in the afternoon about it being to heavy on the flats but all in all it was a great day.. a slight overcast mist was present all day... but this kept the crowds away.. it was dead and would have been even more so , except thursday is local amature race day... the problem with this shortsighted view is that while the snow was killer, the long term effect was scary... loon has no base at all and is teetering on the edge as far as majo trail closings... 2 observations.. once it ineveitably gets cold again , unless a large amount of snow falls soon, the whole mountain is going to be a sheet of ice , and 2) unless the second half of the season comes up big with the natural, loon will shut down on april 1st, if they even make it that far... very sobering... pray for snow!!!!! can anyone confirm a report i heard that burke has 1/2 price lift tickets with the showing of a season ticket from any other area... i know jay has it but i was told burke does also. back on tues and wed from who the hell knows where at this point!!!!
