Sweet day, a few small clouds but overall warm and just the perfect temperature. Didn't have time to hit up A-Basin, as we were pressed to get back to Denver to see family, so I got some car serviced "backcountry" down loveland pass. Took three runs, nice corn until about half way (where it refroze overnight) and mashed potatoes down by the bottom third.

Lots of snow left, and if I'd felt compelled I could have skied all the way from the top of the pass down to I-70 where the loveland base comes in. A dozen or so tracks in the 7-sisters slide area for those who know where that is.

The first few pictures are of a closed wet slide on palavachini at A-basin... I would imagine that patrol set the slide off so there would not be a repeat of last years events... I however, do not know that for sure. The palavachini side of the mountain is closed at this point in the season...

Good day out here! Always good for an easterner to come out and get 3 days in! Hopefully, I'll be up in the Chic Chocs next week. And then its Chile in August! The summer is shaping up well.

A few more. My feet were hurting by run 3, probably due to the massive walk out on wednesday.

wow, I didnt know A-basin had another slide, I remember when i was up there in the winter i had heard that they had one, that took someones life, but didnt hear about this one. Anyway thanks for the post, love loveland pass, i try to check out that whole area everytime i go to Vail. A-Basin has become one of the highlights of my trip now. The place is just so nice looking.

Happy to see some reports are still coming.

My friend Lucky Luke (newly registered) was thinking of leaving for a few days in the Chic Chocs on Monday. Unfortunately I sometimes have to make choices and won't go, however I still hoping to get a few days in this season. :P

Latest update:

Spoke to Lucky Luke today, after speaking to a few people up there, he's not going. Yes, they probably still some snow left, however the Chic Chocs have lost alot of snow in all the rain in the past two weeks.

Thanks for the beta... We are going up in hopes of getting a few turns in, however are bringing our rock gear to do some climbing as well!

Glad I could provide some late season reports. To bad to be back in New England where the snow is few and far between.
