The sun had baked most of the Sunnyside Double terrain down to bare grass, and it closed at an early 1:00 PM. Not much to ski over there beyond Quacky.

Up off the single, the upper mountain was still holding considerable snow. Fall Line, Paradise, Chute, and Catamount Bowl were covered in deep snow, with just a few bare spots.

Lower down, Lynx -- which had been closed for days -- was open and looking great. Last 100 feet of Lower Antelope required a few steps over grass, but the rest of it rocked. Beaver was well covered, Glade was good near the top but getting thin lower down.

On the lowest sections, Buuny was pretty much the only option. Rockerfellars was the best it's been all season.

Throughout the resort, snow surface was highly dependent upon sun exposure. Where it was sunny, it was soft and corny. Where it was shady, it was icy death. Upper Paradise was sweet, with some stuff in the shade that acted like packed powder. But lower down, it was hard and icy. Beaver was deadly before noon, pretty nice after noon. You never knew what to expect until your skis were on top of it.

Rain Sunday could spell disaster, or the rain could
turn to snow showers at elevation. Midweek forecast is calling for rain and snow and a return to typical March weather.

In other words, anything can happen.

Spring. What an odd season.
