Almost a foot of the lightest stuff imaginable. Like skiing air. I think I had the best dozen turns of my life today, all alone on a snowfield leading towards Glen Ellen. Too bad the rest of the run wasnt like that.. too phlat. Where oh where will I ski tomorrow...

`Twas a powder day so I didn't hook up with any friends at all.

Highlights: - Knee deep in various bump troughs during morning trail checks.

- A very large "regeneration zone" on the upper single part of the mountain has been opened due to the current snow pack covering all the rubble in there. It is like skiing in western backcountry.

- At 11 AM I had second tracks down TNF and continued all the way down through go-anywhere-you-want heaven to the traverse out of L.A.

- At 3 PM (woods closing time), MRG patrol graciously positioned spotters above and below the tower 5 cliff on the single chair lift line and opened it for an hour to all who wanted to partake in this extremely rare delight.

I met couple of old friends from the Boston area who had decided on Monday to come up here today and get in some "Spring Skiing". They were a bit suprised. Do down country folk not not realize that it is still like mid-January on the upper mountains? (today that is....)
