Light snow continued to fall until we left at 4:00. Conditions on trail were much the same as Jeff's early morning Stowe report. Windblown goods could be linked from mogul to mogul and found on the trail sides, but the occasional wind-scoured, sun-cupped moonscape was impossible to totally avoid. Denis returned the favor from two weeks ago at Smuggs and our warm up consisted of *&%$house Glades. Uncut was available, with a bit of a crunch underneath. A couple anxious falls later and the entire BC/AB trip next week flashed before my eyes. Sacrifice my first western trip for a nasty fall or knee injury at a marginal day at MRG? No thanks. We headed to the double and sampled woods near Birdland and under the double chair, finding windblown soft stuff here and there, including an interesting streambed we'd never sampled before.

Denis was eager to finally find the 20th, however. I had my doubts it'd be any good after warm-up week, but after poking around a bit for the entrance, our enthusiasm got the better of us and we set off on the bobsled track. Best snow of the day, by far. Uncut lines abounded. Real powder with very little captain crunch beneath. Even Lower Antelope at the end was passable. Another victorious and glorious half day at the little mountain that could!
