After reading the report for Magic on Sunday, I'm glad I chose Saturday to go. It was blue jay all day with temps in the 40's by noon. In the morning, things were pretty hard. All the ungroomed trails that were mushy the day before froze into solid piles but the sun slowly softened things up. The corn moguls were so sweet on Heart of the Magician that I couldn't get enough. This trail is a classic and is hardly ever open. I ended up doing Master Magician or Broomstick to Heart of the Magician the whole day. Run after run after sweet corn mogul run. Both lifts were running so there was never a lift line. What other Vermont ski area can you park twenty feet from the lodge at 9:00AM, get the first table you see in the lodge, and find plenty of cubby holes to stash your stuff on a Saturday morning? Let's hope the Magic continues.
