Always after me Lucky Charms. I had a magically delicious day at Magic Sunday. I got there a little later than I had hoped but I was on the Red Line at 8:15. There was 10-12 inches of fresh fluff everywhere. All the trails to the right of the Red Line were roped off so I headed down White Out. There were a few tracks but lots of fresh lines on the sides. This dumped out onto a groomed trail and I headed for the lower part of Up Your Sleeve. The rope across it was saving the untracked goods so under I went. Lots of knee deep floating powder with only a few tracks down the left side. There was lots of brush poking through the middle and right side but that just added to the enjoyment. I went down Vertigo and the evil groomer was coming up the left side. It was a foot of snow on top of bare ground so the groomer was exposing the dirt and rocks underneath. On the next run I met with a guy on the lift named Ken and we decided to check out roped off goods on the right half of the mountain as you look up. I headed for Sorcerer because it usually holds a lot of snow. I should have headed over here for my first run because it was getting tracked out already. The ropes weren't stopping many. Sorcerer along with many other trails hadn't been pruned in the fall so heavy brush was sticking up through the snow. There were only a few snow board tracks down her so away we went. As it got steeper and you had to edge more you I was hitting all kinds of things underneath but that just added to the exhilaration. Some of the larger shrubs would grab your skies and send you over. Next run I went back to the top of Sorcerer but then headed to the right to a fun trail that winds around the outside. Ken took a wood shot over there but fell every other turn. He said it was still bonny and need more snow. The next run I fell in a deep drift and floundered for a while to get out. I never saw Ken after that. Broomstick to Lucifer which was pretty wind scoured and rocky. I was catching my breath on the roped off section of Up Your Sleeve when someone stopped and asked me where I got the skivt-l sticker on my helmet. It turned out to be plaidster Michael Bernstein and his friend Ben. The best place to meet your fellow listers is on closed trails. They were ripping up the fresh pow in the weeds. We took a half a run together and they headed in for lunch while I continued to savor the goods. The best stuff was the intermediate pitched roped off powder trails but the evil groomer was working most of them as the day went. It was an epic closed trail powder day at Magic. They only had the Red Line chair going and there was a lift small line at times but only a few minutes wait. The lodge was jamming with people. I've never seen that many people at Magic before. I'm sure the foot of freshies had a lot to do with it. One parking lot was full and the other 2/3 full. It's good to see them get the business.
