Finally made it to Magic for a weekend of skiing. The natural snow had cooperated enough to get most of the trails open. Powder snow is fun to ski, but doesn't hold up too well to traffic so trails and glades that were delightful on 1/19 had vegetation and geology exposed on subsequent days. Goniff Glade was knee deep powder on Saturday morning!

Magic had lots of fun runs and challenge but bring the rock skiis until a couple of more feet fall. The complaints about the pucker brush stumps poking through the snow are warranted, but the stumps are easier to turn on than the knee high brush of earlier years. Magic has taken to grooming more than the past which churns up rocks and dirt in a few places.

The snow making on Talisman was a pleasant surprise and as a result has little pucker brush stumps, the down side is no loose powder either.

Skiing Magic is fun because even on a major holiday weekend there was plenty of room in the lodge, a great band on Sat Apres Ski and minimal lift lines. Th Race on Sunday filled the close in lot early, but the trails were still un-crowded.
