Magic Mtn reopened after getting 18-24" of snow last week. I headed up on Sunday to try a few turns and see what conditions were like. Most of the mountain was open, but the wind packed powder had refrozen to a very challenging consistancy. The snow consitancy made a run down Broomstick to Lucifer a real work out and kept me out of the glades.

What had been recently groomed was amazingly soft and creamy making for some phenomonal skiing. A pretty good crowd showed up, but there was never a line on the double which was the one chair running. What the weather will bring this week and how long Magic will remain open will be a mystery.

Magic was in the best shape all season last w/e!! I too had stayed out of the woods this season until they got 20" this past w/e accumulatively. It was open season in the trees saturday. The trails were sweet too! It is hard to ski that whole mountain in one day even though it's relatively small.. I concur, there were some dubious conditions in the sunny areas which made things rather tenuous but it all makes for a classic day at magic. Couldn't gain the energy to ski sunday, was way too whoped. Heard they may possibly open for this w/e. BTW, I ride burton, just call it skiing because that's what I grew up learning first. Got many first tracks in the past couple weeks, if one is willing to hike old closed areas the sky is the limit. March always rocks!!
