I arrived at around 3pm on Tuesday and it was really windy, so I just took a few runs on Eagle to try out the Praxis Powderboards. It wasn't at all fun. The runs were icy and the Praxis are reverse camber and sidecut, so I pretty much just slid.
Wednesday started with about a 1.5 hour wait at Canyon while the entire mountain was shut down. Around 10:00, chairs 8 and 17 opened, and I got first chair on 8 (the steeper of the two). It was excellent, probably around 8 inches of very nice powder. I took 8 untracked laps on Chair 8 before moving away as people finally realized the mountain was open. I took Chair 17 up and went down to Chair 20, as Chair 4 was closed. From 20 I went down to 21, which had nice snow (about 12" at noon, I'd say), but was very flat at the bottom. I took one run on Chair 21 before moving over to Chair 20 as I awaited the opening of 4. 4 opened around 1:30 and I took one run straight down the lift line. It wasn't quite as deep as the Chair 21 area (perhaps 10"), but still very light and smooth. After that, I traversed from the top of 4 to Wall Street to the old Chair 10 headwall, which was by far the best skiing of the day. It was both the steepest and the deepest run offered, and absolutely no one was doing it. I got in 5 untracked laps before chairs 21 and 4 closed. It was thigh-deep Utah-style blower. I finished the day with an untacked run down the trees next to The Acts. Considering how little terrain was open, I managed to ski untracked powder every single run of the day. I'd say I got 16,000 feet of high quality, untracked powder, which I think is quite impressive considering the mountain opened 1.5 hours late and fastest lift I took all day was Roller Coaster.
No pictures, but I'll have a quick POV ready tonight.
