Mammoth March 6-8th

Quick report:

Friday March 6th: Eastern part of the mountain very windy (gusts up to 50 mph). Great coverage everywhere. No untracked spots, although, there were some small patches of pow to be found.

Saturday: Light winds, great coverage. Skiied most of the upper mountain (Drop Out Chutes, Wipe-Out), Climax skiied out, but still some good pillows to be found. Avalanche Chutes in good condition, too. By the end of the day, however, all of the top of the mountain was pretty much skiied out.

Sunday: Skiied head-wall chutes (chair 9). Awesome!!! Great coverage, plenty of shelter from the wind. Again, gusts up to 40, perhaps 50 mph. That high speed six-pack on chair 9 is incredible!

Great weekend up at Mammoth.

Bought a 3 day ticket for $165 at Costco. Only available at some Costcos...........so check before you go.

Thanks for the report, sounds fun!

P.S. I think "tracked out" is what you were meaning to say. I always get a kick outta Mammoth powder days, the way folks go searching for the elusive Holy Grail just cuz the popular runs are filled with tracks.

That's not just a Mammoth phenomenon. You've just described me to a T.
