Garry Klassen is at Mammoth today and tomorrow. Mammoth had 5 inches over 3 days at the end of last week. Garry expected dust on crust but was pleasantly surprised. The wind has been active from its normal direction and there was lots of windsifted dry snow. Not too many moguls, and crusty bumps could be easily avoided in order to stay in the wind sift. Best conditions were between Cornice and Dropout, and on the faces of chairs 3 and 5. Broadway's base looked good to Garry, and he is optimistic about Mammoth hanging on until Memorial Day.

I was at Mammoth yesterday.. went out from 1-3.. temps were in the 60's on the hill.

Surprisingly, the snow was in great shape. Coverage on Stump, to Broadway, to Ch 3 and off the top on Cornice was still very good. They shoudl have little problem making it to Memorial day, on Broadway at least. They are obviously pushing a little snow around, and that should solidify the coverage if it stays this warm for the next 2 weeks.

Thanks to Mammoth aggressively salting the open runs, the snow did not get slushy (except at the lift entrances and exits). It was smooth butter... especially after a few snowcats made some groomed tracks around 1 from the back of 3 all the way to ch. 2. needless to say, with only 10-15 cars in the ch 2 parking lot, I made 4 speed runs all to myself laying into the fresh corduroy, along with 4 laps off the top, and several more around the back of 2 down to Main.

Was hoping to go out today, but my dog got roughed up by a neighborhood bully dog yesterday afternoon, so I had to go to the vet and come home early. He's going to be ok, but has an infected eye.

Sorry, no pics.. I wore a t-shirt and light windbreaker with no pockets!
