Another day without sun. Hard to believe, but it's been snowing here since Tuesday. No major accumulations, but it's better than a warm rain, and these small accumulations are adding up.

A dusting in Quebec City translated to a good 4" or so of new snow at Massif du Sud this morning, the first day that skiing from the summit was offered. Snowfall continued throughout the day, heavy at times. One route from the top on "La grande allee" serviced by the quad, plus "L'ecoliere" and the poma lift. Natural base depths continue to increase, and it shouldn't be long before trail counts explode.

By the time we got there, it was 4" of chowder atop a groomed manmade base. Very good skiing. 75 cars in the parking lot, tops, and this of course is the holiday week! "La grande allee" has a decent pitch in spots, maybe in the low 30 degrees. All in all, pleasant skiing, but cold with a brisk westerly wind.

One thing I noticed today was how cheap the cafeteria prices are. A hamburger, a hot dog, a large bowl of poutine (french fries with gravy and mozzerella curds, for the uninformed), a large homemade oatmeal cookie, a candy bar, a bottle of soda and a slush puppie for the kid set me back a whopping CDN$13.60 - around USD$8.40. Try that at Killington!

A few pics from today:

At the base:

At the summit:

At the summit:
