What a study in contrasts after Tremblant yesterday! I was propelled back a month to early March weather and conditions - even a couple of inches of cream cheese wet snow had fallen a day earlier! Lots of elbow room, too: <BR><IMG SRC="http://www.firsttracksonline.com/discus2/messages/8/1063.jpg" ALT="Lots of elbow room, too"> <BR> <BR>An amazing amount of snow. Along the cross-country network atop the mountain, signposts 8' high were barely poking through the snow: <BR><IMG SRC="http://www.firsttracksonline.com/discus2/messages/8/1064.jpg" ALT="Along the cross-country network atop the mountain, signposts 8' high were barely poking through the snow"> <BR> <BR>I didn't encounter a single bare spot, rock, stump, etc. all day, even in the woods. The north-facing aspect of the mountain retains its snow well: <BR><IMG SRC="http://www.firsttracksonline.com/discus2/messages/8/1065.jpg" ALT="The north-facing aspect of the mountain retains its snow well"> <BR> <BR>The mountain offers a little bit of everything: bumps, groomers, woods and steeps. Everything was in full operation: <BR><IMG SRC="http://www.firsttracksonline.com/discus2/messages/8/1066.jpg" ALT="Everything was in full operation"> <BR> <BR>Massif du Sud generally operates only Fridays through Sundays, and plans to continue to do so through early May. Get out there - the snow is amazing right now!
