Powder -- it's no lie. It's dense, but it's sweet and turny.

Buddy Chris and I headed up to the Snow Bowl around lunchtime, and we found plenty of untracked powder still waiting to greet us. Allen and Ross both had plenty of snow to work with, including beautiful untracked expanses with some wonderful floaty turns under the lift on middle Allen. Last run of the day down Cameron also found delightful, effortless, floating turns down the edge of the trail.

It wasn't bottomless (more like 3-4"), but it was very sweet. There were patches of the bulletproof ice lurking beneath, but they were mostly easily avoided.

Surprisingly, the woods off Ross were much thinner than the trail. About an inch or 2 of new snow on boilerplate made it a challenge. The easier woods off Proctor were more what we were looking for, with beautiful powdery turns through the trees. Getting dumped out onto the dust-on-rocks-filled Proctor was worth it.

Get it while you can!
