Anyone have experience with this outfit? They're offering a deal of CAN$350/day for three days around the new year, lodging and food included. It seems like a killer deal, especially given the good snowpack in interior BC this year. How are the roads in that area?

That looks like a killer deal - especially considering the conditions & lodging included!

Height of Snow at Lodge:

298 cm / 9 feet 9 inches

New Snow last 24 hours:

10 cm / 4 inches

Temperature at 7:00 am

-11 Celsius / 11 Fahrenheit

It seems promising that they advertise both tree and alpine skiing. Too many cat operations never venture above the trees.

I've driven from Seattle to the Kelowna/Kamloops areas - roads are quite good and mostly in warmer valleys. I'm sure the next hour would not be bad either -- since this is the trans-Canadian highway - the main link across the country.

One of the NASJA members who lives in Kelowna tried out Monashee Powder Cats the first year. Accomodations were rustic but he said skiing was of high quality and the price a bargain. Monashee ran both operations but they are now separate I think. I would not expect a lot of alpine given the climate/topography of that area, but natural tree spacing is about as good as it gets. I make that comment based on experience with Great Northern and Retallack snowcats and CMH Kootenay heliski, which operate in similar altitude/climate zones.

I went ahead and booked the trip . . .

According to the web site there's a decent amount of alpine terrain. But, it seems like the chances are good that the Dec/Jan weather will keep us in the trees with wind and visibility problems.
