Sutton was unreal. Everyone I talked to there had never seen anything like it. They've had 9 metres of snow at the summit -about thirty feet. The first few runs were waist deep untracked from the overnight storm. Alas, the place was really packed with those god-awful slippery/shiny one-piece pink/mauve/whitestriped suits from the Montreal area. (I'm convinced that French-Canadian skiers get their fashion sense from some arcane european ski rags that we never see in anglo N. America. It tracked out pretty quick, but I was still skiing fresh lines by the time we broke for lunch at 2:00.

BTW, the snow was so deep we couldn't even ski the untracked far right area - the depth just stopped you dead. It took some (about 15 minutes) getting used to just pointing them straight over the edge of double black vertical drop offs and letting friction hold you back. Wow!!!!

I too was at Sutton on Saturday March 24. Unbelievable!!!! I thought it was deep in January and February, now add 5-6 feet to that and it changes the mountain. Things are skiable that have never been before, new lines and soft landings. Watch out for those tree branches. The deep powder lasted most of the day which was one of the best of the season despite the weekend crowds. I can't wait to see how long this season will go. Mid-May?early June?
