first day there this year. new lift was spinning. about half of the new
terrain was open. the rest was closed, and will stay closed until we get
more snow. the new terrain that i did get to ride today was pretty
fun......even though the travers sucked and i had to ride over some huge
chunks of avi debris. the new cruisers are alright too. rolly and medium
speed type cruising trails. the snow was better than i expected as well.
they got about 4" last night and i guess that helped a bit cause
underneath was just all hardpacked crust.
so there was this rope blocking off a nice little cat track jump into some
fresh. it was simple but looked fun and i think it called my name. i didn't
see a patrol all day, then when i decide to jump a rope he just happens to
be on the chair above me as i land. HEY! he says. i had to laugh. i didn't
know to ride down past this lift and to the bottom or just get on. i just got
on and expected he'd be at the top waiting for me. sh.t, this is big sky.
he wasn't waiting. so i did the right thing and went in to the patrol shack
to appologize. he was cool with it. he just didn't want me to keep jumping
it cause it's so close to the lift. if i tried i probably could have reached up
to tap the chair with my hand. i can't be making any enemy's this early.
geez.
so in quick summary, the new terrain looks like it could be fun.......AS
LONG AS THEY DON'T GET CROWDED. rocks were all over, but not if you
had some common sense and rode in certain areas where the rocks
weren't exposed. still early season conditions. i think it's time for a
dump around here.
a couple blurry pics for ya:
