POWDER DAYS
recieved 13" in the past two days. awesome conditions all over the
mountain. the new quad Lone Tree lift has been the place to be. all trails
that lap back towards this lift are expert terrain. cliffs, bowls, gully's,
chutes, and tree's. almost feels like i'm riding backcountry down these
trails the last couple of days. fresh lines almost every run. Horseshoe
bowl which is a little hike-to-terrain off of the new lift has been getting
filled in nicely. the Elbow, also accessed from the Lone Tree lift was open
today (1/1/05) as well. the Headwaters terrain has about 5 different lines
open now. this includes almost all of Zone 1. Zone 2 and Zone 3 are not
far to becoming open as well. atleast it looks like it anyways. i think it
might be just a matter of doing control on them. the trails accessed off of
Lookout Ridge have been riding really well too. i found a fresh stash at
3pm today(the end of the 2nd powder day). some of the new terrain is
pretty awesome, especially with some fresh pow. the more obvious lines
get chopped up fairly quick. burns the legs and reminds you not to go
back there again. the Headwaters hike to terrain is impressive, as
expected. the hike i did today to get to Firehole took about 45 minutes to
hike up and about 15 minutes to ride down back to the Lone Tree lift.
nice line, but still a little boney. still skimming some rocks here and there.
overall, the mountain is getting covered nicely and more and more has
been opening up. rocks have been disappearing on the groomers but
some are still lingering in some common area's. the ungroomed expert
trails have been in rockstar shape the last couple of days. starting to get
bumped up though. for the freshy fresh, go do a little hiking.
Moonlight has been busy lately. holiday crowds in effect. you actually
have to wait in line (30-40sec) and sit on the chair with other people.
nobody has asked about my leash yet though.
