i'm pretty sure Mt Blackmore is the peak you can see from town. i always thought it was Hyalite Peak, but not anymore. we also wanted to venture over to Elephant Mountain, but time and energy were not on our side. next time. still plenty of coverage up there. LOT'S of pinwheeling going on. a few wet slides ripped out up there on the south facing stuff.

quick pit (1st run):
SW exposure. 40 degrees. 12"-14" of "powdery" snow ontop of very dense snowpack. tap test results, 19 taps, Q1 shear. bomb it fast and we shouldn't have anything to worry about. we saw a couple of guys take our same line at about 1pm and made as many turns as possible on alpine gear. nothing ripped. that was ballsy! IMO no pit on the N face. it was tracked up like bridger bowl by the time we go there. about a foot of powder on a very dense snowpack. maybe the new snow from last night refreshed things a little bit.
