In my travels I've been getting persistent reminders to use my Mountain High season pass. The free senior pass age was bumped from 70 to 75, but existing ones are grandfathered if you renew at the area. I had to squeeze that in this week, because if the SoCal season continues as it has, Mt. High could well be closed by the time I'm home again.
Mt. High West is 35% open and East shows no signs of life, zoom view from lift at West.
It will take a major dump in March to open Mt. High East, Slide Peak at Snow Valley or anything at Mt. Waterman this year. Thunder Mt. at Baldy has been open for one very marginal week this season. Even by SoCal standards this is a bottom 10th percentile season so far. The Big Bear resorts are 63% open. The current storm is predicted to snow 6-12 inches , but since it's raining to 9,000 feet all day today first, I predict no further terrain openings.
The good news is that it snowed about 3 inches Sunday, so surfaces at West were surely better than they had been for at least a couple of weeks. Chisholm was in the best shape, Garry skiing that:
The other main run was Borderline with a few park features.
The looker's left side saw less traffic and approached corn mode around 11AM.
Wyatt turns skier's left from Borderline.
Intersection of Chisholm and Wyatt:
Under the lift lower down was Catch Ya Later, narrower with a couple of thin spots.
Behind the trees is closed Headwall, the site of Liz' broken shoulder in 2020.
The Conquest run looks covered but the chair serving it was not open.
We quit at noon after 13,000 vertical.
