Mt Bachelor 11/29 Powder Day!

Yesterday was a "Board Meeting" day as I treated my customer Matt Wilson to a day on the hill. He mostly backcountry skis and likes to sno-mo a lot as well. It wasn't difficult to persuade him to join me after over 8" fell overnight.
There were still only two lifts open here at Bachelor but the place is really starting to look like a ski area. Tomorrow they'll open the Sunrise Lodge, Sunrise Lift and also the Skyliner Lift. We've had over a foot of natural snowfall this week, not a lot by Cascadian standards, but fantastic so far for this season! We got in some fun powder runs and were able to hit lines that would have been reefs last weekend.
I'm thinking our "slightly favored" La Nina status is starting to show. The brunt of the storms seem to be hitting just to the north of us (like at Mt Hood) but we still get some. We have very good preservation here so come out OK in the end.

Just under 30 degrees, assuming the pic was taken on the level..

Since the earlier wet storms did put down a base on Summit, when do you think Summit could open? With the pattern of storms I would think Summit should open before Outback and Northwest this year.

Funny you should ask, Matt Janney was quoted this morning in the Bulletin that they need just one clear day to prep the top. He said there's plenty of snow to open it, enabling top to bottom runs. Rumor has it they were blasting this morning and it's still pretty clear. I'm going up early tomorrow with high hopes...
NW Express and Outback get wind scoured at their tops and have lower elevation bases. We'll need more feet to open them.
