Well so far the conditions out here in the PNW have been better than anyone dreamed of, especially with the El Nino forecasted. True, snow levels have been hovering right around lodge level, but the resulting plastering’s have covered many of the stubborn lava ridges that usually don’t disappear until much later in the season.
Friday (11/30): After a few days of rain/snow mix and we got a nice nine inch fall Thursday night that covered an existing hard 26” base. It was pretty thick as it fell at 32 degrees but it was a step in the right direction!
Saturday (12/1): Six inches cold pow overnight over Friday’s accumulation set us up for the best day so far this season. There is lots of terrain with only 3-4’ of snowpack but everything is covered and you can just blast away. There are fun drop-offs, muffin tops, little trees to ollie and I didn’t hit anything.
Sunday (12/2): Big Sunday with 16” overnight at 29 degrees but it was windy. Another couple inches fell throughout the day so it was deep. Outback was wind-effected so I went back to Pine and the riding was sublime over by the (closed) Red Chair.
We now have 51” at West Village and 62” Mid with 100” STD so things are going well out here.

Saturday was Day 1 for Outback giving us some needed terrain choices. This was really a good day. I can't rave enough about the coverage we have for this early in the season despite the modest base depths.

Out hounding in the Outback I stopped (hey I'm 60 and you have to pee a lot) and took this tree pic.

We have good tree skiing out here. Nicely spaced.

It was a stormy start but we got 16" overnight so who's complaining.

We are supposed to get even more snow tonight. It was so deep you had to go straight.

Things were great at Whistler this weekend/ Cold powder and Harmony opening. Baker has a 90" base. Reports from Crystal are positive. Think the PNW is covered top to bottom at the moment.
