Whoa! and Ho, Ho, Ho.
Just another powder day (my day 30) and things are going well here in the PNW. The last few storms have been the classic right-side-up variety with moist beginnings and dry ends. Not much people pressure yet but wait 'til tomorrow.
I'm a working man so I savor my weekends like every other working sod. This has been a great weekend with three solid performances in a row!
We opened presents last night with a forecast of freshies and got there early with our youngest son, Spencer. He's quite a rider but since he's 13 it's unlikely he wants to be seen with his parents. We forced him to ride with us and it was really fun. I wound up hucking more today than I have in the last ten years. The snow was so bouyant that you couldn't make a mistake.
It snowed 9" today (so far) with 180" season total.

malolo, good choice, almost got it myself, but went for a Baron ES instead, just figuered id wait another year and buy a fish for the powder days.

I have personally experienced Bachelor's virtues for spring skiing. But I knew there had to be some powder potential with the abundant snow, low crowds and extensive forests.

Most underrated mountain in North America IMHO.

Tony,
Since we're in the PNW everyone figures it's all concrete, all the time. Well, it is! I suggest everyone book their trips to SLC; Marc's (Admin) been looking lonely lately after mentioning the empty slopes at Alta.
I was looking through my journal and noticed that last Dec 27 (a year ago tomorrow) we had 14" overnight giving us a 72"/83" report. I'm a little surprised as last year is remembered as a great season with an awesome start.
Today we have a jolly 82"/95" count after 12" new this morning. Our season total of 192" seems high for these base numbers but the storms this year have been on the dry side (oops). I was fearing a stratchy winter this year with the moderate El Nino that was forcasted. But nothing is ever guaranteed in life and this season is acting more like a La Nina.
Last year turned out to be no slouch, however, as by Feb 1 we hit the magic 200" (base) mark. Must have snowed a lot in January.

Nah, folks...our base is only a fraction of Bachelor's, so please avoid any damage to your skis and head for Oregon instead.

Last January was one of the uniformly best months ever for western skiing. Only SoCal, Arizona and New Mexico missed out. Everywhere else had 150-200+% of normal snowfall.
