While many of you are spring skiing, I flew north to its capital, and ended up with winter. There had been 10 inches or so early in the week, just a bit of warming yesterday. Today was overcast, fog above 7,000 feet so no Summit, and it started snowing around lunch time.
You can't say the snow surface is bad, just inconsistent, so it can be work especially when visibility is less than ideal. You can tell that grooming has been cut back, not only overall, but according to locals since March when some of the secondary lifts closed. All of the mountain would be accessible this weekend, weather permitting. But in winter the weather does not permit 50% of the time. I think the Bachelor corn cycle happened this year during the March heat wave. By the time it happens again in a week or so, Northwest and the backside will be closed.
It might clear out for Summit to open tomorrow. But instead of hoping for corn, at this point the ideal would be for it to snow more!
