Mt Bachelor 4/2/15: Best day of the year?

I know, standards are low this season out west. Yesterday I went up and got a super fun session on 4" conservatively (Congressionally speaking) of very high quality fresh that fell on the day before's 2-3" windblown. So it was nice to get in some pow turns after a long, dry winter. You barely touched the frozen underneath.
This morning dawned clear and cold. Yesterday the Summit didn't open until after 1 PM, so I figured there would be good hunting off to the east down towards Wanoga Way. But on closer inspection as I was ascending the Summit Chair at 9:10, I noticed some excellent tracks right off the top into the Cirque Bowl. It had snowed a little more overnight.
I got two hot laps right off the top (it's a 10 minute hike) in blower pow and got the best bluebird face shot I've enjoyed all season, easy. Second run I kicked off a nice sluff and chased it down. OMG, it's like winter! Nobody here, April sun, winter temps and I'm thinking...I wonder what the West Bowls and upper NWX are like?
You hike over this little pass directly west and start down, angling right so you line up with the top of NWX. That chair is closed, and normally open on this date, but the main shaft on the 1000 HP motor sheared into two pieces a few weeks ago so it's history 'till next year. At first it's 6" dust on crust, then it quiets down and a little lower on the upper NWX slopes it was just absolute sickness.

So sorry you weren't here!

We had fresh snow in the West bowls last May 9-10. On May 10 Northwest had an electrical failure so you had to get back to Outback. I got lured by some powder past the top of Northwest and had a very long slog through the trees and had to climb up a bit at the end to Outback. I'm guessing on a board schubwa knows exactly how far out there he can go.
