Now I know what it's like to depend on Mt Hood Meadows as your daily bread. Except for Saturday. We have been overrun by an unusually warm pattern which has brought us snows and rain. Saturday was the real standout with only 1-2" reported but it completely transformed the place and there were freshies to be had. Otherwise, it's been fair to poor off piste with good groomers in clouds, fog, mist, etc.
I have been riding a lot in preparation for this weekend's Dirksen Derby Fundraiser. It's a snowboard-only banked slalom that has exploded in popularity with over 500 riders signed up in a sold out event. The whole tribe shows up for this one, including both my boys, whom I have scribed about earlier this year.
Saturday salad at the Clearing House Bar (Brew: Goodlife "Sweet As")
Top of Skyliner Chair looking towards the well covered local stratovolcanoes.
View up the Summit liftline. Yes Tony, they could open it. Hey, aren't we Powdr's "Showcase Resort" now??!! It has been snowing the whole time above 7000', my guess is an easy 6-7 feet at the top.
Summit loading area.
