mt. baker trip!

well first off, id like to say hello to everyone! this is my first post although ive been lurking for quite some time. (mostly in the east coast section). ive got my trip all set to see an old friend who moved from nh to bellingham washington last year. im all booked for jan 3-9th! he said baker is the place to be... (ski for him snowboard for me) while im out there i figured id ask the old time west coasters for some advise seeing as he is fairly new to that side of the country. are there any other mountains i MUST hit while im out there? any local must do's? what should i expect for early January conditions at baker? any info is helpful...

On average that's an ideal time for Mt. Baker. My day there was Jan. 9, 2008. Despite Baker's prodigious snowfall elevation is low, so the colder months tend to be the best. No guarantees as it can rain anytime.

Crystal and Whistler are the obvious bigger attractions. You're 3+ hours from each, but in opposite directions.
