After 2 weeks of backcountry skiing in Terrace, I meet my kids in Vancouver, rented an RV and drove it to Mt-Baker parking lot for 5 days! Great snow (32" in 4 days) and the last day was bluebird. Here's some pics.

Looks like you really nailed it. Odds of that kind of week are not as good in March as earlier, so congratulations.

Everyone knows about Mt. Baker's snow, but I thought expert terrain quality was very good. And that doesn't look like Cascade Concrete in those pics.

Tony, expert terrain is EXCELLENT and the snow was pretty fluffy too. We had one day of a more sticky kind of powder. The next day, cold had suck up all the humidity from the snow and was again excellent. We had a great time!! :-D

Quebeckers and RVs: a match made in heaven.

It was a great way to spend time with the kids, away from the freaking TV!

Match made in heaven indeed; I now want to sell everything I have, buy a RV, live THE life!

Funny, my uncle (who's now in his 80s) wanted to go the same thing after retirement, but he wasn't a skier and liked going to Florida and driving through New Jersey on their way down, however his wife (my aunt) vetoed it.

Funny, because the only people driving RVs in Quebec are Americans. :stir:

Super beautiful Lucky. That was definitely better than my family current Spring Break, oh well. :-(

Hmmmm..... 3 weeks off in a row for skiing sounds like "THE life" to me :-P

I'm not the only one driving big RV's on Mt-Baker's winding road, I came across this guy while on my way back to Vancouver, we had to both lean on the side of the road so we had enough space. I almost turn back to get some pics with him and the kids. Cool rig hey?

Hopefully these RV's have 4WD if you're going to use them for a ski safari, especially at a place like Mt. Baker.

I didn't mean to turn this into a "I know you are, but what am I?" American vs. Quebecois RV hijack.

My point was that anyone spending time on the NYS Thruway/Northway eventually makes a comment about the numbers of monstrous RV rigs with Quebec plates (not the comparatively modest one that Lucky is driving in WA), and they're often towing a huge SUV to boot. People wonder how anyone can afford to drive those things while paying Canada's gas prices.

My crew and I were lucky to be at Baker March 4th for the day as well. (We were headed up north for a snow safari as well, but that's another story for another day.) Fabulous skiing, fabulous snow and terrain! And I would ask Tony's question as well: did your RV have 4WD?? That's one helluvan access road to get up there. The Plake RV is super cool too!

No, the RV is a propulsion on 4 seasons tire, the chains fitted too loose so they were useless. I went to the grocerie at the end of the days march 3rd and it was puking snow (6 inches in 2 hours). Driving back up to Baker in 6" of snow, I ended up loosing it in the last airpin before the parking lot and had to pull over there for the night. :-D

vertical drop is not a good way to evaluate ski areas.
Terrain and snow is the way, in my opinion, to chose a place to ski and I always try to keep away from big resort cause I don't want to feel like I'm skiing in disneyland sitting on top of Main street USA.
