The heat wave that started in mid-May has taken its toll. Mt. Baldy was open daily to May 15 and then again last weekend May 21-22. Garry Klassen skied most of the day May 21 and said the main area of Thunder (Skyline, Emile's Liftline, Upper Robins) was still decent. The beginner area was patchy, and by this weekend it would have been necessary to walk through it to reach Thunder. They had to bring snow in at the base of Thunder, so the approach to the lift was slop, but it's a very short distance.
Yesterday I inquired and was told that temps had not been below freezing for 10 nights, so the snow is rotten and they decided not to open this weekend.
