Mt Snow has closed the Sun Lodge wich is my usual jumping off point. I actually never went into a lodge having got a ticket at a kiosk near the magic carpet. I got my ass in a chair at 8:00 AM and started skiing the mixed conditions.

The groomers were a fast packed powder, the North Face was a litle firmer, the Sun Bowl (of all places) had soft powder on Big & Little Dipper. The crowds and high speed lifts change conditions quickly.

I did a few non Mcgroomers like Challenger, Uncles's, Hop, Upper Ledge and Upper Lodge that were a little thin, had rocks, ice, wood, pucker brush and loose snow on the edges. Any trail that had a "thin cover" sign I could ski top to bottom with out seeing anyoe else. Any one of these trails could have been at Magic Mtn.

The sun, reasonable snow, medium crowds (for Mt Snow),close proximity and variety of trails made for a good day of skiing. I was thinking about taking a newer skier to Mt Snow, but won't the only place to rent skis is at the main lodgae which has the customer service level and ambience of a mid 1970's Army induction center
