NEH announced an innovative new pricing model that combines the best of both worlds. The Unlimited Vertical option is just that, an option to buy unlimited vertical, which is innovative in itself. In addition, the guaranteed minimum vertical feet for these packages is increased by 45%.
Heli-skiing pricing primer. Until now, there have been two main pricing models for heliskiing: fixed plus and unlimited vertical. Fixed plus is a basic rate for heliskiing up to a guaranteed minimum number of vertical – typically 100,000 for a week. Additional vertical is charged at a rate of $35-45 per thousand feet.
Unlimited vertical is a higher fixed rate, with no limit on the amount of vertical feet.
The conundrum is whether to pay in advance for vertical that you may never achieve, or to risk a big bill on check-out day. There are arguments for both which I summarize in this previous blog post about the pros and cons of unlimited vertical heliskiing.
If weather or mechanical downtime prevents reaching the guaranteed minimum, most operators will issue a credit toward a future trip. The more ‘unused’ vertical, the greater the credit.
What’s New from Northern Escape?
NEH is announcing a New Unlimited Vertical Option for Classic (base plus) packages.
The idea of the Unlimited Vertical Option is to be fair to guests and still offered a huge upside. It’s an option, so guests can still book at the current fixed plus package price. However, guests can buy Unlimited Vertical for an extra 15-20% AND get 45% more vertical guaranteed.
Here’s how it works:
The Unlimited Vertical Option with a twist. It’s Unlimited skiing/riding AND your minimum vertical guarantee is increased by 45%.
NEH guarantees every extra foot/meter you purchase. There are never any extra vertical charges, and if you don’t utilize all of the additional vertical, you are credited the difference against your next trip. It’s Unlimited Vertical without the risk of over paying!
Prices for The Unlimited Vertical Option at Northern Escape:
7-day – add $1,980, increases guarantee to 145,000 vertical feet
5-day – add $1,400, increases guarantee to 104,000 vertical feet
4-day – add $1,125, increases guarantee to 83,000 vertical feet
3-day – add $ 835, increases guarantee to 62,000 vertical feet
Reaching your guaranteed vertical is easy with catskiing backup!
Ski as much as you can, and never pay any additional extra vertical charges. If you don’t use all the additional vertical in the option, you’ll receive a credit for that amount towards your next package with NEH. But reaching your guaranteed minimum got a lot easier this season with the addition of snowcat backup.
