New Snow In Telluride & Obama

I happened to be in Telluride that weekend for the Blues & Brews Festival with 8,000 others. (think: Etta James/John Mayer & all of Southwest microbrews).

Very rainy, but snow above 10.5 k or so...

I guess if I had the disorder that afflicts this list, I might have tried to ski.

BTW, I am working as an Obama Fellow for the next 70 days. I have been working overtime to diminish any margin McCain might see on the Western Slope of Colorado. Overall, Barack has this election locked down -- and I am being redeployed to Florida -- CO, NM, NH, Iowa are giving such exceptionally strong numbers for Obama that we have a winning Electoral Map. We are now focused on winning Southern States - like VA, FL, NC - in that order to claim a governing mandate.

As an Infospace employee in Seattle, I was lucky to see my stock go from $20 to $1,000 per share....and it was because Bill Clinton balanced our finances and created a surplus that allowed for re-investment / low issuance of Treasury Bills -- which poured investment in money-saving technology. We need Obama to create a similar climate to solve the energy problem. Ideas-...investment....low US Debt....More Investment.

Anyways, Telluride is always exceptional....

Western slope used to be primarily mining/ranching culture. It's more and more now dominated by tourism, notably the resort towns we all know here on FTO. Environmental issues are the top priority for many of these folks, who have often moved in from coastal blue states. Aspen has been like that for decades, but I'll bet that overall it's the western slope that's changed Colorado from reliably Republican to swing state recently.

Denver has typical city/suburb mix. Colorado Springs is the conservative area, with Air Force Academy and national HQ for many evangelical groups.

I'll just wait for admin to take the bait on the political comments :sabre fight: .

As someone working 12 hours on a Sunday eating pizza in front of his computer being with our own issues, my job mandates that I be strickly non-partisan. I know it applies to Federal and Provincial, however I don't know about US politics? :-k

Keeping the discussion at the analysis vs. combat level, I presume many of you have found this site: http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/.

I think that website is fascinating. It would be cool to see a website showing the odds of snow drops on specific regions laid out similarly to that website with odds of a storm in the next week or so.. and then pushing out to the odds 2 weeks away. It probably wouldn't be very accurate, but would be fun as hell to read. Maybe Tony can work on his website to do more forecasting along with historical norms.

http://www.snow-forecast.com/ has the graphic color-coded maps for ski regions all over the world. But it's a big computer model run out of somewhere in England. Not a s accurate as a good forecaster with local knowledge like Powderfreak or Larry Schick.

I just wanted to add that...WTH was McCain thinking? I know that the rating at SNL are going to be real good if mcCain AND Palin gets elected.

Funny, this was Chris's last post. Wonder what might have happened to him since the election? I think I might have found the answer...
