So what's the deal with the long-planned buildouts at Snowbasin and Powder Mountain? Seems like I've been reading about PM going upscale for ages. I guess the tanking economy/credit scene isn't going to accelerate the process.

Problems have been mostly in securing necessary agreements with Cache County and Weber County -- the resort is in both and one is interested, the other isn't. It'll require an access road from Cache County, too. The latest is that Powder Mountain is trying to incorporate into its own town to bypass some of these issues, but there's resistance to that as well:
