Well, we're finally open out here. It's been a little frustrating as we have had a lot of snowfall. But both the Halloween storm and the one a week later, which provided some good riding conditions, were followed by warm weather. Then it cooled down and even though the "big one" went first south through Mammoth and then to Utah, another fatty was on it's heels and came through here.
This is around 9 AM as I was waiting to board for my first lift ride of the season. I'm at Day 8 after getting to know my skins better this fall. We had a 36+" storm cycle followed by the arctic front. So it was a -1 degree, 43" base powder day here. We're right at 100" total snowfall so far so the top will be good soon.
This view is of the "Inner Cone", a small caldera adjacent to the "Cone"; both areas are hike-to and popular with those who choose not to buy a pass. I like to go here later in the day when everything else is tracked.
Here's an angle of the runs serviced by the old Red Chair (and Pine Martin X). The Red chair runs on super busy holiday days and other days so windy they can't run Pine 'cause folks get blown out of the chairs. This area also features tree runs steeper than areas farther east.
