Hadn't gotten an e-mail snow report from Pico since Monday (when the notice came that Pico would "reopen tomorrow'"), so we didn't even make an effort to get over to Vermont on Wednesday. But last night the snow phone said they were open, so we took a chance on it today. Snow guns ran all day on the entire length of the Pike, so there should be at least two ways off the summit for the weekend. Forty Niner was in great shape today. Only one good route down from the lower mountain, but if they keep the guns running all weekend, they should be able to add more trails to accommodate the growing number of skiers who began coming in today. Understandably, there's been a tremendous effort to restore the terrain in the K basin for the holiday week, but we're hoping Pico will continue to get the snowmakers' attention now that the big push is over.
